Yahoo is now providing free POP3 account for INDIA , i.e., any account at yahoo.co.in is POP enabled. If you click on 'Mail Option' it will show you the option for POP.

Now if you click on the 'POP Access and Forwarding' option you would get the following options:

The POP settings are just as follows:

Now configure your mail client and enjoy it.

Is this facility available for your country also? Please let me know.

What's your point?

Maybe there's hope for other countries in the future. I'd love for my Yahoo mail account to have POP access.

In the US you need Yahoo Plus to have access to POP.

my point? what 47songs said - "in the US you need Yahoo PLus to have access to POP". that is what sucks.

So what's to stop someone from going to Yahoo India and signing up for an account?

I know that.

Yahoo.com, i.e., Yahoo US, Yahoo Asia etc. don't support free POP access.

But, the local servers like Yahoo Canada, Yahoo India, Yahoo Brazil, Yahoo U.K. - probably everyone provides POP3 account absolutely free. So, if there is anyone who has opened an Yahoo account in any of the local servers, please confirm whether he is enjoying free POP or not.

I also don't know whether they have any plan to provide free POP account from their yahoo.com server in near future.

YPOPs! is your friend. http://yahoopops.sourceforge.net/

Wow- open source
on Oct 22, 2005
Well, if you prefer closed source, Web2Pop is your friend. http://www.jmasoftware.com/english/index.html

I really don't care whether or not something is open source. All I care about is whether or not it works and how well.

I've actually used both of these programs, with success, but that was years ago.

I'm not interested in any such software when Yahoo is providing free POP for all Indians. But, still thanks for the link.

You're welcome, but I actually posted the link for those not getting free POP from Yahoo.

It's a nice post. I don't have any objection against it.

But, I yet don't get any reply from anyone whether he/she is enjoying free Yahoo POP outside USA. If Yahoo can provide free POP at Yahoo India (yahoo.co.in), there is a possibility of providing this facility for other countries like Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Denmark, France, Greece, Italy, UK etc.

But, can anyone confirm it whether they are providing this free facility or not?
